Boland athlete Sydney Rothman delivered a champion performance on Day 2 of the Athletics South Africa Track and Field Championships, grabbing the senior women’s gold title for pole vault at the North West University McArthur Athletics Stadium in Potchefstroom on Friday, 31 March 2023.
Rothman’s 3.80m jump earned her the top spot, she then was followed by her province team-mates Ansume de Beer in second place with a jump of 3.70m and Mire Reinstorf in third place – 3.70m.
In the women’s 100m hurdles heptathlon, Shannon Verster walked away with gold with a time of 14.65s, Anri Salmi in second place with a time of 15.51s and Ameerah Donough in 15.51s to claim third-place honours.
