Olympic marathon qualifier Rene Kalmer eased to finish line to claim the 10km title at the 19th annual Spar Women’s Challenge from King’s Beach in Port Elizabeth on Saturday in 33:30, ahead of Zintle Xiniwe (34.01) and Irvette van Blerk (34.15), while 13-year-old Simone Weitz took home the 5km crown.

Brushing aside a calf injury, past champion Rene Kalmer stormed to victory in 33.50 minutes in the SPAR Women’s 10 km challenge with Bokomo at Kings Beach here on Saturday, to take the early lead on the newly-instituted Grand Prix Challenge leaderboard.
