Tanzania Lose Opening U17 World Cup Match Against Japan

Tanzania suffered a 4-0 loss in their opening Group D FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup match against Japan at Fatorda Stadium in India on Wednesday, 12 October 2022.

 

In the 20th minute of the game, Tanzania’s Neema Kinega received her marching orders, leaving her country with 9 in-field players.

Japan went on to capitalise, scoring their opening goal in the 33rd minute, courtesy of a netter from Uno Shiragaki.

In the second half, Mao Itamura doubled Japan’s lead. She later assisted Ai Tsujisawa, who made sure to add her name onto the scoresheet as Japan led 3-0.

In the 81st minute, Momoko Tanikawa added the final nail in the coffin as she scored Japan’s fourth goal.
