Organisers have been putting a lot of effort into positioning DanceSport as a true sport, and the work has paid off as Government, corporates and public at large have come to recognise the category as a genuine sport in the past few years.
DanceSport can now announce that the Federations of DanceSport South Africa will send its first ever official Team DanceSport South Africa to Finland, leaving on 22 January 2008 to compete in the World Championships.
The second team will leave on 16 March 2008 to the IDSF Grand Slam in Tokyo, Japan, for which the 2007 SA National Championships will form part of selection criteria. Once confirmed, the teams will be announced to SASCOC and media for official endorsement and publicity.
We congratulate all couples who will make it to these historical teams and wish them well as they carry Protea Colours with pride to represent South Africa in these prestigious world sport tournaments.
The team will be presented to public on 8 December 2007 during the 2007 SA National DanceSport Championships, scheduled to take place at Durban’s International Convention Centre.
The National PRO, Mondli Ngubane will carry out central liaison in this regard, and will advise athletes on briefing sessions, the signing of the Anti-Doping and other relevant documentation.
