Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are off to a positive start in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions Women’s League, winning their first encounter over Vihiga Queens in Egypt on Saturday, 6 November 2021.
The Brazilians secured a 1-0 victory courtesy of a goal by Melinda Kgadiete in the third minute of the match.
The Pretoria-based team had ample opportunities to add their lead in the first half but Queens’ defence proved to be resilient.
In the second half, Kgadiete had a chance to add another goal but missed a free header from a free kick.
Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s team were unable to extend their lead as it was a struggle as the game closed out.
Sundowns’ next game will be against Nigeria’s Rivers Angels on Tuesday, 9 November, at El Salam Stadium.
