Thunderbirds Ladies FC registered their highest winning score, thumping Vasco Da Gama 6-1 at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Match 11 of the Hollywoodbets Super League on Saturday, 11 June 2022.
Thunderbirds, who hail from Eastern Cape, continued their winning streak after beating Coal City Wizards last week Wednesday.
Elsewhere in Giyani stadium, Ma Indies secured a home victory as they defeated Durban Ladies 1-0.
In the university derby between TUT FC and UJ, TUT took hold of their home ground advantage in their 1-0 win.
In Kimberley, Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies and Golden Ladies shared the spoils in a stalemate in the first match of a double header at De Beers Stadium.
Golden Ladies goalkeeper, Lerato Gaonakala walked away with the Player of the Match accolade as she expressed her gratitude: “I’m very happy to win the award and couldn’t have done it without my teammates but to be honest, we were hoping to take three points home but luckily we got one point which is better than no point at all.”
While, Golden Ladies’ head coach, Dilly Nzeku said the team prepared very well.
“We performed very well and prepared for this encounter. We looked at how Celtic played previously and we made sure we play according to the plan and players showed their character and Lerato did very excellent and wish for her to get a national call up.”
In the other match, Richmond United triumphed without conceding a goal against City Lads, keeping the three points at home with a 5-0 win.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and JVV FC’s matches against Coal City Wizards and First Touch FC, respectively, were postponed due to their players who are away on national duty with Banyana Banyana.
