Ethiopian long-distance runner, Tigist Assefa smashed barriers at the 2022 Berlin Marathon, recording the third-fastest time in the event’s history on Sunday, 25 September.
Assefa, who took part in her second career marathon, crossed the finish line in a time of 2:15:37, also recording a personal best of nearly 20 minutes.
Kenya’s Rosemary Wanjiru came in second in 2:18:00, while Ethiopia’s Tigist Abayechew concluded the podium in a time of 2:18:03 in her debut marathon.
