The tops seeds in each age-group category contesting the Dunlop Gauteng North Junior Super 7 Tennis Tournament at the Groenkloof Tennis Stadium in Pretoria have progressed through Tuesday’s round, while U14’s Jesse Grace is the sole second-seed remaining.
Veronique Luksich leads the charge in the U18 category after her clinical victory over the talented fifth-seed Chane Hines, but Welma Luus, Lenice van Eyk and Theresa van Zyl all confirmed their elite rankings to progress in the U16, U14 and U12 divisions respectively.
Regular top performer Jade Pondicas, unseeded in this tournament, has played her way to contest the semi-finals after her victory over Este Potgieter, while Niritsa Rasolomalala made light work to progress, dispatching Shaylin Williams after losing only three games.
Seeded players will contest the semis in the U16 and U12 divisions, but two unseeded players have won through in the U14 division, Zarah Razafimahatratra overpowering Jessica Simpson, and Zimbabwe’s Valeria Bhunu upsetting third-seeded Chloe Heerden.
