Last week, Western Province golfer Vicki Traut made a memorable return to the Selborne Golf Estate when she lifted the SA Women’s Mid-Amateur A-Division title with an eight-stroke maiden victory on Thursday, 14 November 2019.
Traut headlined the glorious golf festival and two weeks prior to the tournament she romped to victory in the 39th Ackerman Championship and was ecstatic about winning the A-Division title on a course where her career began. She spoke about her game-plan in the final round.
“When we got out, it started drizzling a little. I know on the last days we have got quite tough pins and I thought that if I can just hit fairways and greens today, try and make the two-put, if I’m lucky get a birdie, you can put a decent score together,” Traut told Golf RSA media.
“And, the course did play a little more difficult, but I was lucky enough to be able to pull off great shots and just bring in a good score. Happy with the win,” she added.
The South African went on to encourage other golfers to take part in the event.
“The spirit here, I mean you see all the ladies here and it has been incredible, really. It’s an event that I will truly put on my calendar and try not to miss next year. I will definitely try and be back.”
