Velia Janse van Rensburg performed very well under pressure to secure a win, as all eyes were on her being the defending champion of the SPAR Ocean Series, when the hard-working Redhouse River Mile champion won the Ladies 2km Ocean Swim at Hobie Beach, Port Elizabeth.
Janse van Rensburg’s winning time was in a record 28min 23seconds, claiming second place in the 2km Ocean Swim was Rebecca Newman, while the third spot went to Terry Fianagain.
In the 1km Ocean Swim, Jessica Burns won in 15mins 27seconds, Sandi Eybers grabbed second place 18 seconds later and Tammy Geyer finished third in the race.
Seasoned runner, Treloar Childs, won the 5km Beach Run of the ladies category in 18min 32sec ahead of Ursula Kuhn and Thembakazi Jonas, and Janine Wood won the 8km Ocean Paddle ahead of Antoinette Scholtz.
The final race of this season’s SPAR Ocean Racing Series, sponsored by SpecSavers, will be taking place on Sunday 9th March at Hobie Beach.
