South African 400m hurdler Zenéy van der Walt was crowned Senior Women’s Athlete of the Year at the annual Athletics South Africa awards on Friday, 27 January 2023.
Van der Walt took to Instagram to share the news, saying: “I would like to give a huge thanks to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with this amazing talent and to my coach for working so hard with me and preparing me for each race of each season.”
She continued by thanking Athletics South Africa and SASCOC: “Thank you to ASA and SASCOC for always supporting and taking care of us and thank you to all the sponsors.”
She ended her post with the following: “Looking forward to the 2023 season🏃♀️❤️.”
