South African Schools Netball will hold its official opening ceremony on Sunday afternoon ahead of the provincial teams’ tournament for the 2019 edition, at E.G Jansen High School, Boksburg.
The four-day tournament caters for all ages between 12 to 18 years across the country.
SASN President, Di Woolley, shared with gsport the importance of SASN games and the federation’s expectation when the group young girls from all over the country meet for one purpose: To part-take in the youthful competition.
“It’s a competition where young girls will be given the opportunity to showcase their talent.” – Di Woolley, South African Schools Netball President.”
“On Sunday it is just the opening ceremony which is set to start at 3pm. The games will officially begin on Monday, 17 June until Thursday, 20 June”, she said.
“We are expecting about 2500 children to participate in this competition, they will be coming from various parts of the country,” said Wooley.
“It is a competition where young girls will be given the opportunity to showcase their talent. Our driven aim and purpose is, firstly, for talent identification for the U/18s. We also have selections for the U/16 and U17s.”

“Look, we are expecting a spectacular event. More than anything we just want to see friendship, sportsmanship, discipline and hard-work among the special group of children”.
“Also, they must go out there, kick butt, make memories on and off the field and have fun,” she concluded.
