Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies need one point to reach the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2026 when they meet FUS Rabat in their final Group A match at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt on Saturday, 7 November 2026.

Kick-off is at 14h00 South African time, and the two-time champions go in level on four points with hosts FC Masar, who sit top on goal difference and play Lekié Football Filles at the same time. A draw guarantees Sundowns a place in the last four. Top spot is live, but it is not in their hands alone.

From the gsport Newsroom Archives, August 2026

Sundowns opened with a goalless draw against Masar, a side they have still not beaten in this competition after a 1-0 defeat at the 2024 finals. On Wednesday they beat Lekié 2-1, and only just. Refilwe Tholakele finished Ronnel Donnelly’s work in the 42nd minute, a substitute levelled for the Cameroonians in the 84th and the winner came four minutes later when a Lekié defender turned a free-kick into her own net under pressure from Andile Dlamini.

Tholakele is the attacking thread of this campaign. The Botswana international won the golden boot at the COSAFA Qualifier in Gaborone in August, scored both goals in the 2-1 final win over ZESCO Ndola Girls and now has Sundowns’ first goal in Egypt.

FUS Rabat arrive with everything to play for and nothing yet to show. The Moroccan debutants came through the UNAF qualifiers unbeaten, scoring 14 goals and conceding once, including a 3-1 win over Masar. In Ismailia they have drawn 0-0 with Lekié, lost 3-0 to Masar and have yet to score. Coach Mehdi El Qaichouri took SC Casablanca to the 2023 final, which Sundowns won. His side must win to stay in the tournament.

Godfrey Sapula made three changes between the first two matches, bringing in Asanda Hadebe, Amanda Mthandi and Nthabiseng Majiya, and sent on Isabella Ludwig, Lelona Daweti and Melinda Kgadiete late against Lekié. The question is whether he holds that side or rotates with a semi-final in mind.

Speaking to CAFonline in September, Sapula set out the target plainly.

“For Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, a successful campaign would be to win the competition and be crowned champions. But we have to take it one game at a time.”

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies head Coach, Godfrey Sapula

Holders AS FAR lost their opener to Kawempe Muslim Ladies and sit level on points with the Ugandans behind Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies. The Group A winners meet the Group B runners-up on Wednesday, 11 November, and the champions earn a place at the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.

Sundowns missed last year’s finals altogether. Sapula’s words carry weight. “We have tasted the glory and we want more.”
