Chess star Abigail Karyah was recently crowned winner of the ladies section at the 2022 Liberian Chess Championship.
The 14-year-old accumulated 10 points from 11 rounds, while Meleh Davis came a close second with 9.5 points. Rounding up the top three were Tarplah Dorko and Georgina Sackie both on 9 points each – however, Dorko was awarded the bronze medal as she had a better tie-break.
Abella Sornalah was another impressive young star at the championship. At 8, Sornalah was the youngest participant and managed to score 5 points from her matches.
