With the New Year just days away, it’s the perfect time to join a new club that is passionate about the game of Rugby. Gordon’s Bay Pioneers Ladies Rugby is looking for new family members to join the club based in Gordon’s Bay, Cape Town.
As seen on their Facebook Group: “Are you aged 14 and over and want to try something new in 2023?! It doesn’t matter if you have never touched a rugby ball, if you’re coming back to it or even a seasoned player, there will be space for you! With an all-female coach leading the way, there’s no better time to give it a try!!!
After forming the club during the COVID-19 global pandemic, this teams is growing in leaps and is hoping to attract anyone interested from a novice to an experienced player.
The team is led by former Bulls and Griffons player Jacqui Grotius-Burns and just judging by their feed on Facebook they are joining the community of ambassadors seeking to grow women’s rugby while having fun and building friendships. You cannot help but see and feel the sense of community and camaraderie.
The team has featured in the Hermanus Sevens, Knysna Sevens and you can find them outing in the hard yards at GB Navy Sports Ground.
