On Sunday 19 October M-net Angels Walking For
Breast Cancer will be walking around Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg, in support
of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast Cancer is on the rise and every year 500 000
women worldwide die from this disease. It is vital to create a stronger
awareness and educate women of all ages on how to lower the risk with regular
check ups and mammograms.
Breast Cancer can be detected in the early stages
when it is most treatable and chances of survival are high. With some lifestyle
changes this could have live saving effects.
Proceeds of the funds raised will go towards the
running of a Mobile Mammogram Unit which will be traveling around South Africa
offering free mammograms to women in rural areas.
The distance of the walk is 4.2 kms and our Angels
will be walking to music to give them wings. The walk is for ladies only but
men are welcome to cheer the ladies on from the spectator stands.
The walk starts at 09h30 and entry fee is R60 for
children and R120 for adults. There is no dress code but being Breast Cancer
Awareness Month, pink is the colour. On arrival all ladies will receive a pink
ribbon, cause bracelet and water. Certificates will be handed out after the
walk.
We have wonderful day planned with entertainment
and great prizes totaling R100 000. The 10 most unique wings for both adults
and children will receive prizes. For those of you who have not dressed for the
occasion wings and halo’s will be available to purchase.
Visit our Dis-Chem Healthy
Living Village
for massages, body talk, angel card readings, fitness and self defence demo’s,
skin analysis a lingerie show themed "Angels and Wings" and much more. All
activities in the village are free. Our MC’s Bonita from Carte Blanche and
Bailey from 94.7 will keep you informed of all the happenings on the day.
Please bring along any used bra’s to build the
longest bra chain in the world. This will go into the Guinness Book of Records.
Cyprus holds this record so
let’s show them what South
Africa can do. The bra’s will then be
donated to women in rural areas.
