South Africa put in their strongest performance at the Women’s Hockey World Cup so far, but could still not prevent defending champions and world no. 2 Argentina from taking a 1-0 lead at half time.

Argentina’s goal came in the 29th minute, when Mercedes Margalot converted from a penalty corner.

South Africa’s play was more adventurous than it had been against Korea and Australia, and they’ll be looking to put in another strong performance and score in the second half.
