Arsenal Sell Out Emirates Ahead of Champions League Semi-Final

History has been made as Arsenal Women will take on Wolfsburg in the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final in front of a sold out Emirates Stadium.

Over 60,000 tickets have been sold in what will be a record crowd for a women’s club match in England.

“For the first time in our history… EMIRATES STADIUM. SOLD OUT,” Arsenal Women wrote on Twitter.

“It is a huge occasion for us as a team and as a club and it is a huge compliment, not only to people here who have been directly involved in selling tickets and generating the interest, but this is built on people who were here before this team, on players, coaches and people at the club for putting this together,” manager Jonas Eidevall told the club’s official website.

It is set to smash the Gunners previous attendance record at the Emirates, which was set earlier this season as a crowd of 47,367 watched the 4-0 win over Tottenham in the Women’s Super League.

“Our fans have been nothing short of brilliant this season. At times when it has been tough result wise, they have never gone quiet. They have always been there supporting us, they have been absolutely magnificent. If they can be just as magnificent tomorrow, that is going to be a big boost for us,” added Eidevall.

The North London ladies are in pole position to progress following a 2-2 draw in Germany last week.

Arsenal and England defender Lotte Wubben-Moy said: “I don’t think I’d ever have dreamed of it to be honest. It’s quite an emotional thing for everyone to experience.

“Let’s not forget we’re maybe 50-odd years behind the men’s game.”

The winners of the tie will meet Barcelona – who got past Chelsea on Thursday – in the final in Eindhoven on 3 June.
