Momentum Proteas’ Ayabonga Khaka was crowned 2021/22 SA Women’s Cricketer of the Year at the annual CSA Awards on Sunday, 14 August 2022.
Khaka received the accolade after claiming a maiden ODI 5-wicket haul and also received the SA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year award, which was voted for by her teammates.
From KwaMashu, Nonkululeko Mlaba received an award the iconic Makhaya Ntini Power of Cricket Award, while Lizelle Lee who recently retired from international cricket, received the most deserving award for Momentum Women’s T20I Player of the Year accolade.
Meanwhile, Laura Wolvaardt walked away with the Momentum Women’s ODI Player of the Year award. Wolvaardt scored 604 runs in 12 matches and topped the world ranking in March 2022.
From Senwes Dragons team, Head Coach Wynand Schmitt received the Women’s Provincial Coach of the Year award, while the CSA Girls U19 Player of the Tournament was awarded to Elandri Janse van Rensburg, also from North West.
The CSA Girls U16 Player of the Tournament went to Easterns’ Mpumelelo Mashiloane.
