The Hollywoodbets Super League resumed this past week after the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup break where we saw Banyana Banyana make history in Australia and New Zealand.
The domestic football campaign started with mid–week action which was a battle of the students as University of Pretoria hosted Tshwane University of Technology at Tuks Stadium on Wednesday, 23 August.
It was the home side who reigned supreme, with a 2-1 victory over the visitors.
The following matches took place over the weekend where University of Johannesburg welcomed the University of the Western Cape at UJ Stadium in Soweto. This time, it was the visitors who walked away with a victory after a second half goal separated the two sides.
At Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, TS Galaxy welcomed Royal AM in what was an action-packed encounter. The Rockets walked away with a resounding 4-1 victory on the day.
While, log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies solidified their position at the summit of the log standings, after a 1-0 win over Copperbelt Ladies at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
In the other HWBSL match, JVW FC secured a 3-0 away win over MaIndies Ladies.
On Sunday, University of Pretoria were in action once again, this time they faced City Ladies at the University Of Pretoria Stadium.
AmaTuks continued their good run in their maiden season after an impressive 5-0 win.
