gsport had the honour of celebrating its most amazing 6th birthday on a sunny and wintry Joburg on Monday, 1 August, 2012, as the initiative was swamped with messages of support and encouragement.
Instead of hosting a birthday bash, we decided to celebrate in line with our vision of raising the profile of women in sport.
It was fantastic to be on 2oceansvibe Radio with the fabulous Bailey Schneider followed by a visit with Penny Heyns, the inspiration behind the gsport initiative, to the Afternoon Drive with Anele on 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

Probably the most amazing message was this special birthday greeting received from SPAR Proteas netball star, Vanes-Mari du Toit, to gsport on behalf of the national netball team. Words can’t adequately describe how special this made us feel!
