The Cricket South Africa (CSA) Women’s Provincial T20 Competition came to a close with Boland beating hosts, Northerns, by seven wickets in the Final in Pretoria on Sunday.
The match came to an anti-climactic end when Northerns were bowled out for just 32 runs in 19.3 overs. V Smith was the chief destroyer, taking three wickets for just three runs, including a maiden over.
A Kilowan and J Hendricks took 2/2 and 2/10 respectively to rout the hosts and restrict them to a modest total.
In reply, Boland reached their target in 10 overs.
Boland coach, Riaan Nieuwoudt, was delighted with the win. “It’s a good win for us,” he said. “We played really good cricket, and kept a cool head, even though we knew that the total was small.
“I’m proud of the professionalism the team showed and how they went about their business,” said Nieuwoudt. “There’s still a long season ahead of us, so we’ll celebrate this win and move on quickly to the one-day competition.”
