Botha Sets New Records at Seagulls Winter Champs

Six gold medals and two silver medals was the personal haul of 8 year-old Monica Botha, in her eight events in the 8 & Under Age Group at the Seagulls Winter Championships 2015, from 8-11 October 2015 at the Kings Park short course (25 m) pool in Durban.

Among her achievements at the champs, Botha set new records in the Girls 8 & under 50 SC meter freestyle (36:13) and the 50 meter backstroke (41:82)

The talented swimmer placed second in the Girls 14 & under overall category with 96 points, for which she received a cash prize.

Botha lives in Amanzimtoti and is home-schooled. She trains at a local gym, and is coached by her father and ASCA qualified coach, Jan Botha.
