Top women
in cricket have given Twenty20 the thumbs up as we await the start of the
inaugural men’s event, which gets underway at Liberty Life Wanderers.

The South
African Press Association’s Jane Bramley, who will be following Graeme Smith
and his Proteas team during the first-ever ICC World Twenty20 spectacular says
she is looking forward to the awesome atmosphere at the Wanderers tonight.

“I think there will be a lot of excitement and
razzmatazz.  It’s something new and different – almost American.  A
full Wanderers is tremendous and sends shivers down your spine.  I’ll
probably have a headache from the news, but who cares!”

Kate Johns from Standard Bank, the Proteas T20 and ODI Sponsor and the
International Cricket Council’s regional World Twenty20 partner,
says: I’m looking forward to seeing how
the Standard Bank Pro20 has evolved in SA so much, and so well, that
we have the honour of hosting the first truly global
Twenty20 event.

“I am very proud that SA was awarded the first World Cup
– together with Cricket South Africa we must have done something right to get
the attention of the ICC decision makers!”
