The final day of the Growthpoint Junior Nationals came to an exciting conclusion in Mangaung on Monday, 2 November with Bloemfontein’s Delien Kleinhans claiming top honours in the under-18 category.
Kleinhans edged out second seed Kelly Arends from Western Cape 6-1 6-2 to secure the Nationals crown.
In other results, Leigh van Zyl from the Winelands rallied back in the girls U/16 final, after dropping the first set, to win 4-6 6-4 6-1 against Erin Mckenzie (Gauteng East).
Carli Kruger, also from the Winelands region, survived a closely contested battle against MariLouise van Zyl, from the North West, to lift the girls under 14 singles title. Kruger defeated Van Zyl 6-3 3-6 7-5.
