MTN Cycling have a few good reasons to celebrate, following the 2007 Standard Bank Cyclist of the Year Awards banquet held at Emperor’s Palace on Tuesday night, when the sponsor’s men’s team captured the inaugural Team of the Year Award, and Cherise Taylor won acclaim.
Taylor, who has been signed to lead the new MTN women’s road team for 2008, was named Female Cyclist of the Year following her silver medal winning ride at the Junior Road Race World Championships.
Taylor has featured in a number of podium positions in the past year, and placed third overall in Sunday’s Pick ‘n Pay 94.7 Cycle Challenge in Johannesburg, having won the first Sprint Prime, and emerging runner-up in the second Hotspot and both Queen of the Mountain milestones.
