gsport Editor and SABC cricket commentator, Kass Naidoo, walked off with the coveted People Magazine Crystal Award for Best Sports Presenter, at a glamorous affair in Kyalami on Saturday night.
Kass was nominated alongside SuperSport duo Neil Andrews and Tony Ndoro, and Highveld Stereo’s John Walland and Graeme Joffe.
It was Kass’ third Best Sports presenter nomination in three years, and her second award, having also won back in 2005.
In her acceptance speech, looking beautiful in her elegant long silver-grey dress, Kass said: “This is really cool! I thought Neil Andrews was going to win tonight. It’s really hard to compete with that fan club of Super Saturday.
“It’s been an awesome season, and it was just really great to share all the sporting excitement with South Africa,” said Kass.
“To be nominated with all these guys, you know…, I just only joined the industry- So it’s just quite amazing. Thank you so much to the readers, and to People Magazine. Cheers!”
Morning Live’s gorgeous Leanne Manas (gsport’s August 2006 Woman of the Month) won Best Female TV Presenter for an amazing third year in a row.
This year, Leanne fought off stiff competition from the Top Billing’s Jeannie D and Joanne Strauss, Carte Blanche’s Ruda Landman, and Nicky Greenwall from Showbiz Report to walk away with the coveted title.
Leanne looked radiant as usual, and in a wonderful gesture, dedicated the award to Ruda Landman (gsport’s May 2007 Woman of the Month), who will be leaving Carte Blanche at the end of the month.
gsport’s September 2006 Woman of the Month, Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu’s 3Talk won best local TV Show.
Don’t forget to vote for your favourite Leading Lady as we gear up for our 1st Birthday and the 2007 gsport Awards at the Westcliff in Johannesburg on August 1, 2007.
