Dané van Niekerk Retains Captaincy at Oval Invincibles

South African international Dané van Niekerk retains captaincy of the Oval Invincibles, as the official list of leaders were announced on Monday, 22 May 2023.

Van Niekerk, who won both of the women’s tournament trophy finals, will serve as captain for the Oval Invincibles for the third consecutive year.

In the other squads, Heather Knight leads London Spirit, while Ellyse Perry of Birmingham Phoenix will serve as the team’s new leader.

Manchester Originals will be led by their highest wicket-taker in 2022, Sophie Ecclestone.

While, Southern Brave’s Anya Shrubsole takes up captaincy once again after leading the team to the finals in 2021 and 2022.

England’s Tammy Beaumont continues her role for Welsh Fire, as she leads from the front.

Trent Rockets are yet to announce their captain for the season.

This year’s competition is set to being on the 1st of August 2023.
