Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis won the Coach of the Year award, while Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies were named the Women’s Club of the Year at the 2022 CAF Awards held in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday, 21 July 2022.

This is the third time that coach Ellis has claimed this coveted award having won it in 2018 and 2019.

 

The 59-year-old has led her team to the 2022 AWCON final and has also secured a spot for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, following their inaugural CAF Women’s Championships League title win back in November 2021, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies walked away with the 2022 Women’s Team of the Year CAF award.

The South African outfit beat out some strong competition in AS FAR of Morocco and Hasaacas Ladies of Ghana to claim the prestigious award.

The 2022 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year winner will be announced after the women’s AWCON final on Saturday, 23 July 2022.
