Cricket SA logoNortherns will meet KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), while Eastern Province (EP) have booked their place against Boland in the semi-finals of the 2013/2014 Cricket SA Women’s Provincial T20 Competition.

The semi-final hosts, Northerns, topped the Group D log with 21 points after beating Easterns by 39 runs in the previous round. Northerns posted 146/4 in their 20 overs thanks to half-centuries by captain, Mignon du Preez (61) and Andrie Steyn (56).

In reply, only B Clulee managed any notable runs for Easterns. Her 36 runs came off 33 balls before her innings was brought to an end. They could only manage 107/7.

KZN restricted Griqualand West to 45/8 to win by 126 runs and secure their place in this weekend’s semis.

EP reserved their place after the nine-wicket thrashing they gave to Kei. Michelle du Preez, Marizanne Kapp and Dané van Niekerk took 3/1, 2/6 and 2/14 respectively to skittle them out for 56 with four balls of the innings remaining. It was an easy chase after that, EP reaching their target in 5.2 overs.

Boland beat rivals and defending champions, Western Province (WP,) by six wickets to knock them out of the running to retain their title in Brackenfell. WP batted first and made 123/7 with Shandré Fritz and Alexis Le Breton scoring 32 and 33* respectively. Yolandi van der Westhuizen led the Boland reply, scoring an unbeaten 35 off 32 balls to give her side the win with five balls to spare.
