The Kruger sisters, Zoe and Isabella made a strong start in the Lagos Open, an ITF $25 000 Transition Tour event in Lagos, Nigeria on Wednesday, 9 October 2019.
Isabella stunned Ukraine’s Valeriya Strakhova 3-6 6-0 6-4 to knock the top seed out in the first round earlier in the day.
Zoe then joined her younger sister in the round of 16 as she saw off a spirited challenge from Tunisian Chiraz Bechru 6-4 6-4 to advance.
The daughters of the late Springboks flank and Blue Bulls captain, Ruben Kruger, have been making their strides in tennis since they were introduced in October 2013 by renowned Swedish coach Thomas Hogstedt and will be eager to make their presence felt in Nigeria.
