Uganda’s Fadilah Shamika Mohamed Rafi is the first woman from her country to win the All Africa Badminton Senior Championships individual title.

Sunday, 19 February 2023, will go down as one of Mohamed Rafi’s career highlights, as she bounced back to beat home favourite Johanita Scholtz of South Africa 14-21, 21-14, 21-16, after 37 minutes in the final at the John Barrable Hall.

Going into the match, Mohamed Rafi was placed 36 places below her opponent on the world rankings and will be ecstatic with her continuous rise.

In December 2022, she was also a gold medallist at the All Africa Junior Championships in Mauritius.
