The 2026 South African domestic softball season came to an exceptional close this past weekend, when the National Provincial Championships delivered standout results both on the field and behind the scorecard, at the Red Sox Barnard Stadium on Saturday, 28 March, 2026.
Gauteng were crowned Women’s NPC champions, defeating Western Cape in a compelling final to claim the 2026 Women’s NPC title.
University Sport South Africa completed the podium, earning the bronze medal following a competitive playoff match.
The tournament also produced a landmark moment off the field, as 19-year-old Tshegofatso Ramaboa officially achieved her Level 4 Scorer certification during the NPC, becoming the youngest person in Softball South Africa’s history to reach this level.
Coaches and officials praised her achievement, noting that it highlights the growing depth of young technical talent within provincial structures.
With the NPC concluded and provincial honours decided, attention now turns to national selection camps as the domestic season draws to a close.
Gauteng’s championship win and Ramaboa’s record-setting milestone mark a high point for women’s softball in South Africa, and signal a promising future for players and officials alike.
