Green Buffaloes Crowned COSAFA Women’s Champions League Winners

Zambia’s Green Buffaloes defeated Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC on penalties to win the COSAFA Women’s Champions League crown on Saturday, 13 August 2022.

Buffaloes secured a 6-5 victory as the match played out to a 0-0 stalemate throughout regulation and extra-time.

Despite being on the losing end, Bambanani Mbane took the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance on the day.

Meanwhile, teammate Melinda Kgadiete was crowned the Player of the Tournament.

In the 3rd/4th-place playoff match, Double Action Ladies beat Olympique De Moroni 3-0 to take the bronze medal.

Despite the loss, the team from South Africa along with the Zambian based team, will play in the CAF Women’s Champions League in rabat, Morocco later this year.
