2022 Momentum gsport Awards Emerging Athlete of the Year and Ministerial Recognition Awards recipient Phiwokuhle Mnguni continued to rope in the accolades as she was named Sports Personality of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year at the KZN Sport Awards on Saturday, 08 October 2022.
‘Ben 10’ as she’s popularly known beat the best in the country including international Momentum Proteas fast bowler Shabnim Ismail and Springbok Women’s Sizophila Solontsi.

Canoeing South Africa’s Saskia Hockly has also made 2022 her year as she received the Junior Sportswoman of the Year Award. Hockly has put in the hard yards on the global stage after defending her gold medal at the ICF Canoe Racing World Championships.
In the Special Awards category, Momentum Proteas duo Nondumiso Shangase and Nonkululeko Mlaba received Black Blazer accolades.
Para-athlete Alani Ferreira walked away with Sportswoman of the Year with Disability gong. She has broken five African records at para-swimming world championships, meanwhile PMB Girls High earned themselves an award for Best Team School of the Year.
