Hildah Magaia Emphasises Importance of Team Unity Ahead of Final #FIFAWWC Group Match

In a pivotal moment for Banyana Banyana at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Banyana Banyana striker Hildah Magaia says the team talks with the players and sharing of information will be vital for a victory against Italy on Wednesday morning.

Magaia echoed head coach Desiree Ellis’ sentiments, emphasising the team’s determination to secure a victory against Italy.

“This is our last group stage match and obviously it is so important, so our talks as players are the same as the coaches. It’s about sharing information and doing what we can do to become victorious in the game,” Magaia said.

Captain Refiloe Jane’s injury during the match against Argentina caused concern, but South Africa’s senior women’s team’s doctor, Nthabiseng Maesela, confirmed that the injury is minor and she is expected to return to the field soon.

“Refiloe is doing well. After going for a scan, it was confirmed that she sustained a soft tissue injury and she should be back on the field soon,” assured Dr. Maesela, alleviating fears and allowing Banyana Banyana to focus on their final group stage match.
