Inge Weidemann claimed the gold medal in the 100m freestyle race at the 15th CANA Senior African Championships in Tunis, Tunisia on Saturday, 20 August 2022.

Meanwhile, teammate Trinity Hearne finished in third place to claim the bronze. Algeria’s Nesrine Medjahed finished in second to claim the silver medal.

The swimming event will run until the 25th of August 2022, with 27 countries taking part in the event at the Radès Olympic swimming pool.

In the 100m breaststroke, Emily Visagie won her heat ahead of Rania Hamida Nafsi and hometown favourite, Habiba Belghith coming in third on the second day of the championships.

The Women’s 200m saw Hearne once again on the podium, winning the silver medal with compatriot Hannah Pearce claiming the bronze for Team South Africa.
