Collegiate scholar Jessica Roux led the way this weekend to win the 5km open water swim at the second round of the Eastern Cape Swim Series, recording a fast time of just short of 1hr and 5 minutes.
Held at the picturesque Marina Martinique, Roux placed fourth overall in a strong field to win the ladies title from fifth-placed Rebecca Newman, both finishing the 5km event within the SA qualifying time of 1 hour and 15 min.
In the 3km swim it was Genna Greevelink who placed first ahead of Charmaine Horton and Chrislie-Thandi Niehaus, while it was Christie Vaughan ahead of Chane and Caro de Jager 1km fun swim.
The next race in the East Cape open water swim Series will take place on Wednesday the 23rd December and will include a 1.5km swim, 3km swim and a 500m swim for the youngsters. See the EC Swim website for further information.
