Mind Sports South Africa hosted the 2023 Northern Cape Online Championship on Saturday, 28 January.
Frome the seven participating provinces, a total of 7 out of 22 athletes were female, who all earned provincial colours in the various games played in the competition.
The most outstanding female was Karli Roodt. Roodt, who is a pupil at Middleburg Hoërskool in Mpumalanga.
She became the first female champion in the esports title Rockets League. This win has earned her Mpumalanga colours and earned her a spot for the national team trials and likely a spot in the national Square or Protea team.
While, VYBN females had a good run in the Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) to earn themselves provincial colours and qualified for the national team trials, with a good chance to end up in the national squad or Protea team.
CSGO is also one of six titles which MSSA has entered to contest at the 15th World
Championships International Esport Federation (IESF).
The IESF’s 15th World Champions will be played to the following titles with CSGO Female division being the only female games.
