gsport Editor Kass Naidoo was a guest on CNBC Africa’s Business AM show on Monday morning, to discuss the business of women’s sport.

Hosted by Peter Ndoro and Leigh Roberts, the interview covered the topics of endorsements, media coverage, and corporate interest in women’s sport.

Naidoo admitted that women’s sport in South Africa had a long way to go in comparison to the growth of women’s sport internationally.

But she urged Corporate South Africa to back our female sports stars, who she believed needed the support and encouragement in order to build their personal brands, and raise the profile of their sports.

Naidoo felt the media had a major role to play in raising the profile of women’s sport in South Africa, in order to unearth big stars in the mould of Penny Heyns and Natalie du Toit.
