South Africa’s Kat Swanepoel grabbed a second gold medal and broke another African Record at the Manchester Para Swimming Championships on Thursday, 03 August.
Swanepoel bagged her first medal on Wednesday in the 150m Individual Medley SM4 event.
A day later, Swanepoel grabbed her second world title at #Manchester2023, winning in the women’s 50m backstroke S4 in a time of 47.98. Germanies Tanja Scholz finished in second place and Gina Boettcher completed the podium in third.
In addition to Swanepoel’s victory, Alani Ferreira broke the African record and grabbed bronze in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB12 event.
It’s been an incredible time for the South Africans at the World Para Swimming Championships in Manchester as the athletes continue smashing African Records and adding more medals to the medal tally.
