South Africa’s very own wheelchair tennis superstar, Kgothatso Montjane, has progressed to the US Open quarter-final round, after a victory over Argentina’s Maria Florencia Moreno on Tuesday, 5 September 2023.

The match took place on court 12, where Montjane showcased her remarkable talent and emerged victorious with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Ranked ninth in the world, Montjane’s outstanding performance in this match has earned her a well-deserved spot in the quarter-finals of the women’s singles wheelchair tennis at the US Open.

Her next opponent will be Japan’s Momoko Ohtani, who is currently ranked fourth. This battle will determine who moves on to the semi-finals, and we can be sure that Montjane will give it her all to secure that spot.

Moreover, it is worth mentioning that Montjane has already achieved a significant milestone in her career. Back in early June, she claimed her maiden Grand Slam doubles title by triumphing in the Wheelchair doubles finals at the French Open. This accomplishment speaks volumes about her skill and dedication as a player.

Let’s all cheer on Kgothatso Montjane as she continues her impressive journey at the US Open, representing South Africa with utmost pride.
