South Africa’s Kgothatso Montjane and her doubles partner Yui Kamiji clinched the doubles title at the Japan Open, on Saturday, 22 April 2023.
The pair secured a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 win over Jiske Griffioen and Momoko Ohtani.
JAPAN OPEN DOUBLES TITLE SECURED 🏆

Montjane and her partner defeated Dana Mathewson and Manami Tanaka with a 7-6, 6-3 win in the semi-final, to advance to the final.
The wheelchair tennis stars have also previously earned the runner’s up medals in the women’s doubles at the 2022 US Open.
In the Japan Open singles competition, 36-year-old Montjane’s journey came to an end in the quarter finals, with a 6-2, 6-7(3) 6-4 defeat to Japanese world No.5 Momoko Ohtani.
