Turkish referee, Lale Orta has been appointed as the new national chairperson of Central Referees Committee by Turkish Football Federation.

Her career dates back to the 1990s, where she has been shattering barriers, being Turkey’s first ever FIFA listed woman referee, including being a sports commentator.

Orta was a player and coach between 1976 and 1989, where she was a goalkeeper for Dostluk Spor – the first women’s football team of Turkey.

Currently, she is an academic in the field of Sports Science and has a Sports Management Master’s Degree that she obtained in 1993 at Marmara University.
