Hosted by Sports Presenter Vusiwe Ngcobo, it was great to have legends in our presence as we were inspired by their stories of their journeys to success, as well as the challenges that they had to face along the way.

The first ever Hall of Famer, Penny Heyns had the crowd’s attention as she shared a motivational speech, encouraging guests to strive beyond the challenges they face to excel.
Heyns reflected on her outstanding career and how she learnt to remain focussed on her own lane, instead of what others were doing.
2008 Hall of Fame inductee, Elana Meyer, also made her presence felt at the intimate gathering, saying: “This is such an important initiative. If you look at how long boys’ clubs have been around and the power of the networks through that – we are still in our baby shoes, and I think that’s why we really need women to embrace, support and to uplift.”
Other Hall of Famers in attendance included Netball phenomenon Hazel Gumede, Banyana Banyana’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winning coach Desiree Ellis, Athletics custodian Motlatsi Keikabile, rugby pioneer Dorothy Tsotsobe, Softball Umpire and custodian Thelma Achilles, Netball pioneer Dudu Msane and veteran sports journalist, Jane Bramley.
Also making an appearance was #gsport17 double finalist Lara van Niekerk, who featured on the panel discussion where she spoke about being recognized at this year’s event.
“I is looking forward to being among an amazing group of women and celebrate the might of women power.”
While, Telkom Woman of the Year finalist, Andile Dlamini spoke about the Power of Recognition: “It is amazing. It gives you confidence. It celebrates you even more than you are celebrated.”
Content Creator and Woman in Social Media finalist, Potso Aphane says she is looking forward to: “Seeing more women coming into the coaching spaces especially in the male dominated industry such as football. It would be great to see female coaches coming into cricket, rugby as well as swimming. We want to see women coming into these spaces and taking over, not just as coaches but managers as well.”
