Top Sports Anchor Leigh-Ann Diedloff and global sport presenter Usher Komugisha complete the 2022 Momentum gsport Awards Presenter Squad, ahead of the 17th edition of Africa’s longest running women’s sport recognition platform on Wednesday, 14 September.
Diedloff, who is a former Woman in Media winner, will be the “Voice of God” on the night.
Speaking on her inclusion this year, Diedloff says: “Having MC’d these awards a few years ago, I am once again extremely humbled and proud to be involved!
“Kass and the team have done a tremendous job in shining the spotlight on women in sport. Nobody follows their passion for acknowledgment, but it really is very sweet to be ‘seen’ by your peers!
“How time flies when you’re having fun, bring on the next 17!”
Inaugural African Woman in Sport winner, Komugisha will make her way into the country as she will be in charge of red carpet duties.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be part of this prestigious event. The Momentum gsport Awards are a trailblazing platform that celebrates women in sport in every aspect and that is something that I want to be part of. Women in sport globally get little or no recognition but the Momentum gsport Awards are changing that narrative. I am very excited to apart of this and cannot wait to celebrate excellence.”
Speaking about her win back in 2020, Komugisha reveals: “It was incredible to be recognised and celebrated. It means so much to me and it served as inspiration for those that look up to me across the continent and worldwide. It also serves as motivation to continue working hard, while also mentoring other young women and men to pursue and achieve their dreams.”
On Monday, gsport Content Lead Celine Abrahams and #gsportLIVE host Babsie were announced as the Social Media and gsport Newsroom hosts, respectively, for the live premiere on SuperSport Variety 4, Channel 209 at 20h00 CAT.
Abrahams will keep the audience entertained and glued to their social media pages with behind the scenes action.
“I am so honoured to be part of this year’s Presenter Squad! This is such a massive opportunity and I am looking forward to creating magic with pioneers in the sport broadcasting space.
“I am also looking forward to seeing women in sport turn up to own their success! It’s a night where we all get to be under one roof, celebrating one another and honestly, just having fun. Let the party begin!”
Kutwana, who will be the gsport Newsroom Host on the evening, says: “I don’t even know where to begin. I am honoured, excited and very nervous. When Kass gave me the call I was completely shocked. I had imposter syndrome, wondering if she really was asking me to be part of the #gsport17 Presenter Squad.
“I am very excited and I am looking forward to rocking the stage alongside such amazing women and such trailblazers. Julia Stuart hosting the awards, having won the 2021 Woman in SuperSport Award, shows what the power of recognition can do for you and the doors it can open,” she added.
“I am ready to rock that stage and learn a lot. I am ready to have fun and bring the night to life. I just want to make sure I create an experience that whoever is watching from home can enjoy.”
2021 SuperSport Woman in TV winner, Julia Stuart, was also announced as the host for this year’s awards ceremony.
