Reigning SuperSport Woman in TV winner, Julia Stuart will host the 2022 Momentum gsport Awards, which will be live on SuperSport Variety 4 on Wednesday, 14 September.
Stuart is ecstatic to lead the #gsport17 Presenter Squad, over a year since she walked onto the stage as winner.
Speaking on her recognition last year, Stuart says: “Insane! I was so overwhelmed in that moment. I didn’t even pose for the picture with the trophy on stage I was so flustered. And that says a lot because I’m known for staying calm in big moments. I guess it shows how much the award meant to me. The outpouring of love and positivity after was incredible as well.”
She further added what the power of recognition has done for her since winning: “Being recognised for exceptional work on such a public platform is a tremendous thing. It did something very important for me personally – it forced me to stop for a moment and take stock. In this chaotic world of sports broadcasting, it is always about the next thing, next game, next studio, next tournament, etc. And I live by “you’re only as good as your last game” so winning the SuperSport Woman in TV award and the many congratulatory messages that followed from colleagues, friends and family forced me to acknowledge my own achievements, which rarely happens.
“I believe validation must come from within but recognition, of which there was plenty after winning at the Momentum gsport Awards, is so important too because it says we see you and the work you have put in. As I said after winning the trophy was heavy because it contains the blood, sweat, tears, sacrifices, time, work and all of those things people don’t see.”
Sharing her views on being this year’s MC, Stuart says: “Incredibly honoured! I must admit I was a bit stressed too because it’s a huge deal to be the host of the Momentum gsport Awards. But pressure is privilege and to have an opportunity to be a part of another year of celebrating brilliant women in the world of sport, well that’s a huge privilege,” she concluded.
