SuperSport Schools will amplify the coverage of gymnastics in the country after signing a three-year partnership with Gymnastics South Africa.
This partnership will see key gymnastics events streamed live and exclusive on SuperSport Schools online platforms and will come into effect this October when Gymnastics SA hosts its annual National Championships, Gym Games and Perfect10 showcase event in Tshwane.
The partnership will also see the live broadcast of the inaugural African Jump Rope Championships, which will take place during the Gym Games.
“Gymnastics has captured South Africa’s attention over the past two years, especially with our Women’s Artistic and Rope Skipping teams delivering outstanding results on the international stage,” says Anne Vermaak, CEO of Gymnastics South Africa.
“Not only are our high-performance gymnasts making an impact, but we’ve also seen an increase in the number of young people getting involved in one or more of our nine disciplines. We’re very excited to welcome SuperSport Schools onboard as our official broadcasting partner and we look forward to working with the team to bring the best of gymnastics to a broader audience”, Vermaak concluded.
Since the brand’s inception, the premier broadcaster of school and youth sports, SuperSport Schools has worked hard to see the fulfilment of their vision which is to grow sports across the African continent by broadcasting and live streaming the full South African schools sport story at no cost to the viewer so parents and other interested parties can watch from anywhere and anytime.
Gerhard Steyn, GM of SuperSport Schools said, “We are really excited to be debuting gymnastics on our SuperSport Schools platform, a sport with an incredibly passionate following and which contributes core physical skills to children that have a positive impact across multiple sporting codes.”
Gym Games is scheduled to take place at three different venues in Tshwane between 30 September and 9 October. All three venues will have a dedicated live stream, giving gymnastics enthusiasts ample choice to follow all the action.
