It was a hot and exciting day in Pretoria as the 2022 Varsity Hockey semi-finals took place at the University of Pretoria astro fields on Wednesday, 5 October.
Maties, Tuks, UFS and NWU battled it out for a spot in the finals of the competition.
First up, Tuks took on UFS, where both teams were unable to score goals at the end of final time and had to go into shootouts. Tuks came out top with a 3-1 victory.
Meanwhile, the Maroon Machines put on a stellar performance beating NWU. Before the halftime whistle, Maties had secured a 2-0 lead. In the fourth quarter, they went on to let loose, scoring a further 6 goals. The match ended 8-1 in favour of the Stellenbosch side.
The final will take place on Thursday, 6 October 2022 at 15:00pm CAT at University of Pretoria.
