Maties are set to take on NWU at a sold out Coetzenburg Indoor Centre in the Varsity Netball final on Monday, 17 October 2022 at 7pm CAT.

For a second year in a row, Maties reached the final undefeated, while NWU suffered two defeats at the hand of Maties and 2021 champions, Kovsies.
Maties defeated UJ 53-43 in their home semi-final, while NWU edged out Kovsies 64-61 in Bloemfontein.

The team from Cape Town is yet to claim the title, having reached the finals in 2015, 2019 and 2021.
NWU have two titles to their name and will be looking to defeat Maties to add another.
This is what the respective coaches had to say ahead of the final:
NWU coach Elsunet du Plessis revealed: “Everything has been going great. There are a couple of aspects of our play we have been working on and fine-tuning, especially on attack and defence.”
Maties coach Zanele Mdodana said: “Our preparations have been going well and we are focusing on the task at the moment. We are truly honoured to play in front of our home crowd, we have the best supporters.”
